Steel Weight Calculator

Use our free steel weight calculator to estimate the weight of plates, round bars, and hollow sections in kilograms. Pick a material, choose a shape, enter the dimensions in millimetres, and we'll compute the weight using the appropriate density and geometry.

What it's used for

  • Cost estimation for project enquiries
  • Freight and logistics planning
  • Stock take and inventory management
  • Quick sanity checks before placing an order

Weight Calculator

Pick a material and shape, then enter the dimensions in millimetres.

Per piece

0.000 kg

Total (1)

0.000 kg

Density

7.85 g/cm³

How the calculator works

Steel weight is the product of volume and density. We compute volume from your dimensions according to the selected shape, then multiply by the density of the chosen material.

  • Round bar: V = π × (D / 2)² × L
  • Plate: V = L × W × T
  • Hollow / pipe: V = π × ((OD / 2)² − (ID / 2)²) × L

All dimensions are in millimetres; results are reported in kilograms per piece.

Reference densities

MaterialDensity (g/cm³)

Stainless Steel7.93
Brass8.50
Bronze8.78
Aluminium2.70

Densities are nominal values used for estimation. Actual weight may vary based on alloy specification, surface finish, and tolerance.
